SIRPA Training Programme

Pre-requisities: Evidence of a recognised health professional or coaching qualification and already regulated by a recognised regulatory body. Acceptance on the programme is at the discretion of Georgie Oldfield MCSP
Duration: 4 days
Venue: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
AIMS: To provide an in depth understanding of all aspects of stress illness and how to educate, support and motivate patients throughout their recovery.
INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
After completing the SIRPA Training Programme a practitioner should be able to;
1) Understand the wide ranging causes of stress illness and be able to competently help a patient develop an understanding of their own personal stressors and how it relates to their own pain/symptoms.
2) Understand and demonstrate the appropriate use of treatment tools/techniques taught on the course and how to intergrate these within their own work.
3) To competently support patients along their recovery journey, encouraging self empowerment.
4) For each individual to be able to recognise any risk factors and understand their own limitations and when to refer on a client who might be at risk.
LEARNING/TEACHING METHODS AND FOLLOW UP SUPPORT:
The course will be delivered in a 4 day block, consisting of lectures and experiential workshops. Trainees will receive a course manual, plus a copy of the SIRPA Recovery Workbook. Follow up support will be available via email, telephone and the Practitioner forum on the SIRPA website.
COURSE PLAN:
An Introduction to Stress Illness, anomalies between conventional diagnoses and symptoms, theories of stress illness, how to recognise a stress illness and perceived injuries. Research indicating current state of affairs re. pain/chronic conditions and the cost to the economy. Research relevant to understanding stress illness and this approach to resolving symptoms. Red flags, sample case studies. The Stress Checkup, manifestations of symptoms, psychology, physiology, patient assessment, treatment principles & tools, cautions and contra indications, communication skills. Practical work including; self assessments and assessing each other, plus treatment techniques. The SIRPA workbook, programme, webinar and Support Programme.
SIRPA ADVANCED DAY COURSE:
For Practitioners who are keen to complete case studies following the introductory course, this day will provide the opportunity to review and discuss these cases with Georgie Oldfield MCSP. The aim will be to develop a more in depth understanding of how to support clients with stress illness.
